Amazon purchases CustomFlix

Last week, Amazon purchased a DVD on demand company called CustomFlix.  The company produces and sells independently produced DVDs and its purchase is causing yet more speculation that Amazon may entering the rental business.  Amazon's entry into the rental business has been rumored for months with many hoping to see them give Netflix and Blockbuster's online service a run for their money.

Actually, Amazon does have a rental service in the UK and Germany already, but from what I hear its nothing quite like netflix, and has a fixed per-month rental cap.
