Pink PSP is on its way
Why can't these companies just release their products in a variety of colors from the very beginning? Anywhoo...it looks like our overseas gamers will be able to pick up a pink PSP come October 27.

Check out the Nintendo DS Lite in pink (for some odd reason it reminds me immediately of the pink Razr). This is sure to be a big seller with the female gamers when it's released on July 20th...unfortunately that's the release for Japan.

It looks like some customers (as reported by Cheap Ass Gamer) have had luck in scoring Nintendo DS Lites a little early. The official release date is June 11, but some lucky people have been able to pick up units at Walmart and Target. No word on why these particular stores have offered them before the street date, but if you feel like testing your luck, you may want to head over to your local stores and check it out.

You would think that Japan would be getting the black Nintendo DS first, but it looks like Europe will have the honors come this June 23rd. Nintendo has announced that Europe will get a black DS Lite along with a Polar White unit this June. Other colors include a navy and a light blue (offered in Japan).

This isn't set in stone....just a few guesses from a couple of analysts and developers who seem to think the PS3 will debut with a price of 500 big ones. I'm fully expecting $500 price point, especially with the included Blu-Ray drive. With the recent unveilings of a couple of Blu-Ray players that cost as much as $1800, $500 for a player plus a video game system seems like a steal. What do you think?
I
saw the iRiver G10 on Akihabara News. My first thought was the Gizmondo, but I guess I should be a little fair and actually give them a chance to release this device. The iRiver G10 will run on Windows Mobile 5 and will have a WVGA screen (800x480), along with 4 to 8 GB of storage.
It looks like people are comparing this to the PSP and the Nintendo DS, but I seriously doubt that it's on the same level. First, we would need to see what games would be released for it. It's a pretty safe bet that we would see the same caliber games that we see for the DS or the PSP (please, no jokes on the PSP's library of games). The enormous amount of storage is a promising sign, however.....but better suited for viewing movies or television shows.
Popular gaming accessory maker, Lik-Sang is now accepting pre-orders on the Neo 5in1 pad for the PSP. These little device allows you to use Compact Flash, SD, or MMC cards with your PSP so that you can take advantage of the cheaper memory formats instead of using the Memory Sticks. Don't worry, you can still use your Memory sticks through a pass-through port. Using 4 AA batteries or rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries, it also features a built-in charger and a turbo and force recharge button. You can also use it as a USB card reader with a PC or Mac.
Lik-Sang will start shipping the Neo 5in1 pad when its stock arrives on Feb 1. The site says Feb. 1, 2005 (but I'm assuming that's a typo). This will set you back $99.90.

I can't decide whether this is supposed to compete with the PSP or the Game Boy Micro...or both. Either way, the Cenix GMP-M6 features a miniSD slot, 2" widescreen TFT-LCD display, FM tuner, 6 hours of gameplay (20 hours of music playback). It supports MP3, WMA, Ogg, Audio ASF, MPEG-4, and IMA-ADPCM formats.
It's reported that there are 50,000 games available for download (that sure beats both systems, doesn't it?). Selling for only $193, you can get this tiny device in either black or white (whenever it becomes available)

If Santa brings me a PSP for Christmas, I might consider purchasing this device (depending on how much of a hassle it is to get movies to the PSP via conventional methods). The Neuros MPEG4 Recorder 2 is a recorder that creates the appropriate video file straight from the content. It's basically a VCR without the tape since it records to your memory card. You can connect it to your cable box, DVR, VCR, DVD, camcorder, etc. and it will record to your memory card which can then immediately work with your PSP or any other device that is compatible with a memory stick or CF card (like my Dell Axim x50).
It can record in VGA, QVGA, and WQVGA. You can purchase it for $149.99.

I guess iRiver is extremely jealous of the overwhelming success of the Gizmondo (sarcasm). The company normally focuses purely on music products but has decided to delve into the gaming handheld market. The company has developed a portable gaming handheld that will have WiBro incorporated. WiBro is a wireless broadband internet technology that was developed in Korea, and has a couple of advantages over WiMax.
There's not too much information on the device, but it should be released in the late summer of 2006.

I know your first thought when you read this title was of the people bidding up to $10,000 for the Xbox 360 on eBay, but I'm actually referring to the book. Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard of the "For Dummies" and now all you gaming fans will have one for your precious 360, Xbox 360 For Dummies. Unfortunately, January 16, 2006 is listed under the product details, but let's hope it will be released before then. The book (which happens to be 360 pages!) covers the following:
* Topics covered include hooking up Xbox 360, taking advantage of HDTV and Dolby capabilities, using built-in digital video recording and wireless functions, storing media files, playing music, and displaying photos
* Shows how to have even more fun by taking an Xbox online for massively multiplayer gaming, instant messaging, and more
* Discusses the social potential of the Xbox, which people can use to make new friends, join groups and teams, and even throw fantastic parties
* Includes tips for securing the Xbox from online threats
You can order it from Amazon for $13.59.

Brando, which makes great screen protectors by the way, is selling a PSP Smart Charging Dock. For $15.00, you can get a dock that will hold your PSP and charge it at the same time. This dock looks like it could light up an entire room, too, but is also useful if you're tired of holding your PSP while watching a long movie. It comes in black and for those lucky people who have the ceramic white PSP, they'll be happy to know they can order it in white as well.

The regular formula is for plastic products and lightly damaged bright metal. The "M" version adds a special metal refinishing pad which can restore severe bright metal surface damage - like the iPod's bright metal back panel. Not for use on iPod mini, painted or anodized surfaces. Both versions include Optex application and polishing cloths.
You can purchase the Ice Creme solution for $20.95 and it includes 2 1 oz. bottles of polishing compounds and 2 application/polishing cloths. The Ice Creme "M" is available for $25.95 and includes the same items as the regular solution but with the addition of a bright metal finishing pad.

It's been confirmed that Resident Evil 5 is currently in production for the PS3 and Xbox 360. There's no word on whether the game will be available for Nintendo's Revolution. The game will be running in high-definition which the Nintendo Revolution does not support, so it's hard to say whether we will see it on the console. However, there's still hope:"Capcom has a multi-platform strategy in order to provide Capcom products to as many users as possible," a spokesperson for the company told IGNcube. "Given this strategy, it is certainly feasible that other platforms could be considered at some point."

It was announced yesterday at the Comic-Con International that Marvel Enterprises has given Microsoft exclusive worldwide rights to make massively multiplayer online role-playing games with Marvel comic book characters. The game will be exclusively produced for Microsoft's upcoming game console, the Xbox 360. Most times, MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-player games) are developed for the PC.
If you were looking forward to using the PS3 as a home router, sorry Charlie. President of Sony Computer Entertainment, Ken Kutaragi has announced that Sony has dropped the router functions from the PS3.
Mr. Kutaragi told Nikkei Electronics that the original functionality would have made the PS3 too costly to manufacture (and quite frankly, the machine doesn't need anything else to make it more expensive!)

~I hope that's all they're dropping from the console. I'm still curious as to how they plan on keeping the price at $399 and include everything plus the Blu-Ray drive.~

Due to a deal signed by Wurld Media and Trymedia, now video game players will be able to legally download PC games and earn cash back for sharing them via P2P. P2P site, Peer Impact announced that they have signed a contract that will allow more than 1,000 games to be available to Wurld Media subscribers. The service is currently in beta testing, but should be available within the next couple of weeks.
Members who share the purchased title through the P2P network will then earn cash back just by simply leaving their computer on and someone purchasing a game from your computer. Peer Impact has a similar service with music.

Sony Computer Entertainment America boss, Kaz Hirai, discussed the possibilities of web browsing and movie downloads via the PS3. In an interview with gaming magazine EGM, Mr. Hirai acknowledged that with the increasing adoption of HDTV, web browsing on a game console is more practical. However, he stated that the release of a web browser would depend on consumer demand.
He also discussed the fact that movie downloads were a feature considered for the PS2 in 1999, but the network infrastructure was not available to support it. "Once we have the infrastructure and we have the technology, then you're good to go," he continued. "You've got to have both sides of the equation."
