Snoopy mobile phone

Yesterday, Disney released its mp3 player for kids, Disney Mix Sticks.  Now there's a toy for us big kids.  To celebrate the 55th birthday of the ever-popular Charlie Brown cartoon character, Snoopy, a Snoopy mobile phone is being announced.  Based on the Gigabyte GX-5 handset, it features a slider design, megapixel camera, TFT display, miniSD expansion slot, built-in mp3 player, and it will retail for 14,500 yuan ($135 USD).  Since it's a limited edition phone, people will be able to reserve the phone.

Besides the obvious Snoopy theme featured on the phone, there will be screensavers and wallpapers to go along with the Snoopy theme.

New NEC laptops

It looks like NEC has updated a couple of laptops.  Here's some specs:

LaVieG-C - 2.26GHz Pentium M780, 120GB hard drive, ATI Mobility Radeo X600 128MB graphics card, 1600x1200 UXGA resolution, 15" screen, television functions, and a DL DVD burner.

The LaVieG-J is smaller with a 12" screen (1024x768 resolution), 1.2GHz Pentium M753, and a 40GB drive.

Glow in the dark headphones for the iPod

Design Annex has chosen a very creative idea for their first set of headphones for the iPod.  For $29.95 you can purchase their new iBeat illuminating Headphones.  They come in several colors (white, aqua blue, dark blue, green, orange, and pink), glow bright enough to be seen during the day, and the sound quality is on par with the earbuds that come with the iPod, according to iLounge.  However, the power pack is a little on the LARGE side.

Toshiba music phone

It looks like Toshiba is joining the rest of the mobile phone manufacturers by creating their own "music phone".  The Toshiba 803 is the company's first 3G phone and music player.  Not easy on the eyes, but it does have some decent specs.  It comes with a 1.3 inch screen, Bluetooth, 2.2 megapixel camera, twin stereo speakers and the music player is external so it's easier to get to your music, at least according to Toshiba.

iball for iPods

It looks like one of those little aromatherapy machines, but it's actually a wireless speaker system for the iPod.  The iBall is manufactured by Oregon Scientific and claims to have six to eight hours of battery life and can recharge your iPod.  It can broadcast music wirelessly with its advanced 2.4GHz wireless technology.  It also has built-in remote control so that you can control your iPod directly from the iBall.

All in all, it's a unique looking device but $299.99 is a little steep.

i-mate SP5 and SP5m

No, this isn't a post about sunscreen.  The i-mate website has now listed two new smartphones, the i-mate SP5 and the SP5m.  The only difference in the phones is the design.  The phones feature quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition, 64MB ROM, 64MB RAM, Bluetooth, miniSD expansion slot, built-in WiFi (!!), and 1.3 megapixel camera.  The built-in WiFi is a huge plus, but it's a little strange that Bluetooth standard isn't 2.0.
