Apple to settle iPod battery claims
Any customer who owns an older iPod that has had battery problems will receive a $50 coupon and extended service warranties under a tenative settlement in a class-action suit.
In 2003, eight iPod owners came forward and filed suit alleging the iPod failed to live up to battery claims. The battery cost $99 to replace and lasted less than 18 months and could only play for four hours before it needed recharging. This was contrary to Apple's claims that the battery could last ten hours.
